Kinnaly Walks For Rice!
I am team captain for Team Kinnaly this year!
Kinnaly is excited to be participating in the 2019 Walk For Rice! Please join us either by walking or donating towards the 2019 Walk for Rice to support the ACRS food bank and nutrition programs.
What Is Walk For Rice?
Walk for Rice is a fund-raising event featuring a 2.5 mile walk/run. Each year, over 1,000 participants help raise money for Asian Counseling and Referral Service (ACRS) to buy rice and other food for the ACRS Food Bank. The ACRS food bank nourishes more than 5,000 individuals and families in our region each year with nutritious and culturally familiar foods like rice, tofu, fish and fresh produce.
Why Does It Matter To Kinnaly?
The ACRS Food Bankserves 5,200 people every year, including "khon Lao," Lao peoples. More than 56% are under the age of 18 or seniors over 65. Most come from low-income, AAPI households.
The ACRS Food Bank is the one of the most visited food banks in King County, and the only one in the state that regularly provides foods that are familiar to the Asian and Pacific Islander (AAPI) diet. The food bank is located in Seattle’s Chinatown International District and provides items like rice, tofu, noodles, fish and fresh produce. To ensure this program continues to serve the community, Kinnaly Walks For Rice!
We ask that you please join us as we walk for rice or consider making a small donation towards Asian Counseling and Referral Service (ACRS) Food Bank!
Kinnaly will also be doing a traditional Lao dance & music performance at Walk For Rice! For more information about Team Kinnaly, visit www.kinnaly.net.
